Grammie Tip #3

Be Responsible

Last weekend was a hard weekend for me.  My daughter lost a co-worker who was only 25 years old.  This young lady had been out partying with her friends and drank too much.  She fell asleep and asphyxiated on her vomit.  This brought back haunting memories of my days in graduate school when the same thing happened to a classmate.  I learned back then, to make sure anyone who has drank too much had to be watched carefully.   Don’t ever be afraid to call 911.  Alcohol poisoning is nothing to fool with –it can be life threatening.

Here is a tip to help them while waiting for an ambulance.

Put them on the floor

1. Raise the arm that is closest to you above their head. Prepare to roll them towards you.

2. Gently roll them toward you, guarding their head from hitting the floor. The head should rest in front of the arm, not on it.

3. Tilt the head up to maintain airway. Tuck their nearest hand under the cheek to help maintain head tilt and raise the face off the floor.
